Block 2:

Taz thought that Riot stood out in this match compared to Royce. He doesn’t mean to bury Royce, but he thinks there are a few things she can work on in order to improve as a performer. In order to get to the next level as an in-ring performer, Taz thinks Royce needs to stop trying so hard. Some of her facial expressions are simply over the top and it doesn’t come off as believable. Ruby Riot on the other hand, looks like she’s in a fight at all times and that makes her work very convincing.

Taz says it’s important for today’s generation of wrestlers to study footage of great performers from the past, but it’s also important to make your character and style your own. He also admits that it’s very tough to be original after decades of wrestlers have make their way through the business, but it’s essential to be original.

For example, Taz says that Ruby Riot’s work reminds him of Luna Vachon. While there’s a similarity between the way both of those women work, Taz says that it’s hardly noticeable at times. This tells him that Riot has done a fantastic job of taking some subtleties from Vachon’s performances, and then found a way to fit them seamlessly into her own presentation.

Taz wishes WWE’s commentary teams would get lost in the moment more from time to time. Instead of just screaming out the names of moves, sometimes it’s more realistic to just react to things naturally. Unfortunately, he feels that some of today’s commentator’s are so interested in getting themselves over with fans that they forget to act naturally.
