The Taz Show Recap – Cena Needs to be Respected, Mike Chioda Becomes A Star, Where’s Roode Headed? More!

Block 2:

He says that whether you love or hate John Cena, you absolutely have to respect him. Cena continuously goes out there and does good business while having great matches, plenty of which have come towards the end of his career in the last couple of years. Cena defines being ‘Over’ as a professional wrestler, and whether you pay to boo him or cheer him, everyone pays attention when Cena enters the ring.

Taz gives credit to referee Mike Chioda, who took a great looking bump during the Kevin Owens/A.J. Styles match and proceeded to do a great job selling the entire flawed finish after it occurred. Taz liked the backstage interaction between Shane McMahon and Chioda after the match, specifically because McMahon referred to Chioda by name.

He says he wishes that WWE would refer to their referees by name more often, so fans could get to know them personally. Taz was working for WWE when the company decided to stop referring to their referees by name, and although he didn’t agree with that decision there wasn’t much he could do about it.

Taz adds that referees have a tremendously hard job, and it’s a job that he would never want to do. They are underpaid and work very hard in order to make the Superstars look good. They are under-appreciated and undervalued, and it’s about time people start appreciating the work that wrestling referees do on a weekly basis.
