Tay Melo may have struck a nerve with fans after admitting she wasn’t exactly thrilled during her AEW return last week—but now, it looks like she’s doing some damage control.
After Ringside News published her emotional quotes from Sammy Guevara’s vlog—where she said she felt tired, missed her daughter, and just wanted to go home—social media lit up. The story quickly went viral, sparking debate over her mindset and whether she was truly ready to be back in the ring. Now, just a day later, Tay Melo has fired off two new tweets that paint a very different tone.
“What a crazy couple days I had! Thankful for everything and tomorrow I’ll kick some ass at work 😍 LFG !!!!!! TayJay is back after more than 2 years !!!!!”
Then, just under an hour before landing for AEW Dynamite, she shared this:
“My stomach’s doing flips—feels like first day of school nerves! Still on my last flight (been traveling since 5am 😅), almost there… After more than 2 long years, I’m finally wrestling live on TV again. Butterflies and all, I can’t wait! 🦋✈️💪”
But these tweets contrast sharply with what she originally said on Sammy Guevara’s vlog after her AEW Fyter Fest return, when she admitted she wasn’t sure how to feel and was emotionally drained from being away from her daughter, Luna.
“I lost a nail. I feel tired. I feel—I don’t know. I don’t know how to feel. I miss people so much, it’s such a different vibe. It’s like, I do want to do the matches and segments, but at the same time I miss Luna so much. I just wanna go home. It’s almost like I wish I could be in both places at once.”
Sammy added that fans kept complimenting her and asking if she was excited. Her response?
“It’s funny because everyone kept telling me how beautiful I looked and asking if I was excited, and I told you I just said, ‘No, I just wanna go home. I miss my baby.’”
She continued:
“Yeah, everybody’s like, ‘Are you excited?’ and I’m like, ‘No. I just wanna see Luna. I wanna breastfeed and sleep.’ I love my job, don’t get me wrong, but man, there’s nothing better than my daughter and husband—laying in bed, talking, and laughing together.”
While Melo’s original vlog comments were raw and relatable—especially for working mothers—these new tweets feel like a conscious pivot toward excitement and gratitude. Whether it was a heartfelt change of perspective or a response to online criticism, fans definitely took notice.
She’s now set to reunite with Anna Jay to take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford in a tag match during AEW Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster, and all eyes will be on her performance—and her energy.
