Tay Melo AEW’s Status Explained After Two Year Absence

Tay Melo was once a big part of AEW’s women’s division, but she hasn’t been seen on AEW television since 2023. While her absence continues, Melo’s current status with the company has been revealed.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider was asked about Tay Melo’s AEW status. Mike Johnson noted that she’s still under contract with AEW and could return whenever the company wants.

Johnson added that she last wrestled at the Tokyo Dome in January and looked good. Based on her social media, she’s in great shape and has a new hair color. He believes she’ll be back when AEW’s creative team decides it’s time.

During STARDOM’s New Year Dream event at the Tokyo Garden Theater on January 3rd, Tay Melo teamed up with Mina Shirakawa as they faced off against Athena and Thekla in a tag team match. Melo would ultimately lose the match but she definitely made it clear she could wrestle at a top level.

Tay Melo hasn’t wrestled on AEW TV since the January 11, 2023 episode of Rampage, where she teamed with Anna Jay against Ruby Soho and Willow Nightingale. For now, fans will just have to wait and see when she returns, as many definitely miss her.
