Tay Melo isn’t just gearing up for a possible shot at AEW’s rumored women’s tag titles—she’s also fighting her way back after one of the biggest life changes a woman can face: becoming a mom.

During her interview with Denise Salcedo, Melo opened up about the raw, physical, and emotional toll of getting her body back in wrestling shape after pregnancy. The AEW star got visibly emotional reflecting on what it’s been like rebuilding herself, inside and out.

“I’ll tell you, it was — and it still is — a struggle. I want to cry just talking about it, but I’m not. It’s literally a lot of therapy because my body is never going to be the same, right? I created life. I have my daughter, which is the most precious thing in my life.”

Melo explained that while her body is different, she’s learned to appreciate the changes for what they represent.

“And then you start looking at yourself in the mirror, and you don’t see the same thing anymore. My body is different. But, like, it’s better — because I created her, you know? So you just need to, like, work with your body, be grateful.”

She also made it clear that bouncing back hasn’t been some picture-perfect process—it’s been hard work, mentally and physically, juggling training, motherhood, and the unpredictable demands of a pro wrestling career.

“So I literally thank my body every single day because — because of my body I have my work too, you know? I have my job. So it’s a lot of, like, going to the gym 20 minutes, and then going, breastfeeding, and then going back to the gym. It’s literally, like, relearning how to live my life. And then with this crazy life of traveling and everything, it’s really like a crazy journey — I’m not gonna lie. And I just — I’m just amazed that, like, I am being able to do it. Sometimes, like, I don’t know how — but I’m doing it.”

With the women’s tag titles still rumored to be sitting on the shelf, Melo’s ready for the opportunity when it comes—but for now, her biggest win might just be making it through each day as a new mom and pro wrestler.
