NXT Vengeance Day was a big show on March 7. The NXT brand has been heating up on the road to Stand & Deliver, and tonight provided plenty of opportunities for stars to make a statement.
The NXT Women’s North American Championship was on the line as Izzi Dame defended her title against Tatum Paxley.
Paxley has been chasing championship gold since Dame turned on her and captured that championship. As they walked into Vengeance Day, both were determined to prove they belonged at the top of the division.
Izzi Dame has been confident since capturing the title and has made it clear she believes the championship is right where it belongs. This match was a long time coming, as their story has provided a ton of lore for fans over the past few months.
This match was not contained to the ring for long. The two fought at ringside to give fans an up-close view of the action. They made it back before the referee could count them out, and things progressed. Izzi Dame took control of the match, as Tatum Paxley sold for the champion.
There were a few near falls in the match, and fans were all behind Tatum Paxley to carry on and pull off the win. The Culling was on Izzi Dame’s side at ringside, but that was about the only support for her. Tatum hit a 450 Splash for another near fall, and the match continued. After more action, Tatum nailed a powerbomb to the floor that laid them both out for a bit.
Izzi Dame got another near fall after Tatum got back in the ring. Then Tatum got Izzi to accidentally hit Shawn Spears as he stood on the apron. After that, Tatum Paxley hit the Cemetery Drive to win the match and become the new NXT Women’s North American Champion.
