The March 17 episode of NXT was a big night in Houston. Booker T was appreciated in a big way, and they did so with two women’s title matches.
Izzi Dame lost the NXT Women’s North American Title to Tatum Paxley at Vengeance Day. That didn’t sit too well with Dame, and she wanted revenge and her title back.
This week on NXT, Izzi Dame got her rematch against Tatum Paxley. They went off in a cage match for the title that may end their feud. It certainly gave fans in Houston a fun main event.
Izzi Dame attacked Tatum Paxley as she was getting into the cage. The match didn’t even start as Izzi beat Tatum around the ring in her home state. Izzi Dame rocked tights that said “s*ck it” on the back, and she took a chair into the ring before the match was started.
Tatum Paxley was able to gain momentum again, and then they started fighting on the cage. This resulted in both wrestlers falling off the top rope at the same time as they cut to commercial break.
Escape wasn’t an option to win this match, so they had to go for pinfall or submission. Eventually, the two found themselves fighting while seated on top of the cage. Then Izzi nailed a suplex off the top rope for a near fall. Fans were so pumped that whatever they chanted caused The CW to hit the mute button.
Tatum nailed a Whisper in the Wind for a near fall of her own. The two traded some more offense, and then Izzi nailed a Dame Over for a close two-count. Dame grabbed the steel chair, and she started hitting Tatum Paxley with the weapon. Then Tatum took a bump into the cage.
Paxley held onto the cage, and she nailed a code red on the chair. Then Tatum nailed Cemetery Drive to retain the title in Houston. Then the ramp opened up as Tatum was leaving, and Blake Monroe popped out. Blake grabbed Tatum and pulled her under the stage before she grabbed the NXT Women’s North American Title belt. That is how this week’s show ended, and it appears that Blake Monroe is next in line for Tatum’s title.
