Swerve Strickland had a chip on his shoulder heading into the AEW Revolution 2025 pay-per-view, but he managed to surpass all expectations and become the #1 contender for the AEW World Title. Interestingly enough, there are now people in AEW who want Strickland to beat Jon Moxley for the title.

While speaking on the post-AEW Revolution show, Sean Ross Sapp was asked if Swerve Strickland would defeat Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title after the Revolution pay-per-view.

Sapp revealed that there are people in the company who want Swerve Strickland to beat Moxley for the AEW World Championship, but added that he wasn’t sure if it would happen, saying, “I know there are people in the company who want him to, but I don’t know if he will.”

Swerve Strickland defeated Ricochet to become the new #1 contender for Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship. Later on in the night, after Jon Moxley retained his title against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage, Swerve Strickland took out Moxley with a huge stomp and celebrated with the fans in attendance.
