If you’re planning to tune in for WWE WrestlePalooza on September 20, you better have the ESPN app ready—because that’s the only place it’s streaming.
PWInsider has confirmed that WrestlePalooza, WWE’s first-ever Premium Live Event to stream on ESPN, will only be available via the ESPN app. There are currently no plans to air the show on ESPN’s main television channel. Fans who miss the live broadcast will be able to catch the event through VOD replay on the app after the show ends.
“If there are any changes to that plan, it will be very late in the game,” the report stated, indicating that the ESPN app exclusivity is locked in barring a last-minute shift.
However, Netflix subscribers outside the U.S. will also get in on the action. WWE WrestlePalooza will stream live on Netflix for viewers in the following countries:
Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, and the UK.
The move is part of WWE’s massive platform shift as the company partners with ESPN to showcase WrestlePalooza as a tentpole event. And they’re not holding back. The card is rumored to include the in-ring return of AJ Lee and Brock Lesnar back in action.
Dave Meltzer confirmed that WWE is treating the show as a “major showcase”, noting, “They’re definitely gonna peak. This is not your normal monthly pay-per-view.”
Still, for fans expecting a traditional TV airing, this may come as a surprise. If you’re not already set up on the ESPN app, now’s the time to make it happen—or risk missing one of the most stacked shows of the year.
