“Stone Cold” Steve Austin is officially set for WrestleMania weekend, but as for an actual appearance at WrestleMania 41, the verdict is still out.

During the March 18 edition of the Fightful Select Q&A, Sean Ross Sapp was asked about the possibility of Austin being involved in the show itself. While Austin is confirmed for WWE World—the fan event happening April 19-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center—Sapp noted that there’s currently no word on anything being pitched for Austin at WrestleMania 41.

“So when I asked previously, I was told don’t expect him to cause he had total knee replacement. However, he has been announced for that week for signings, meet-and-greets, photo ops, stuff like that. He has indicated that he could possibly be involved, but I haven’t heard that anything’s been pitched for now. That’s not to say that nothing has been, but if you have seen the reporting over the recent years, usually I hear by now if something had been pitched.”

This lines up with Austin’s own comments, as The Texas Rattlesnake recently stated he hasn’t had any discussions about appearing at WrestleMania 41 and is currently more focused on the Mint 400 off-road race. That said, Cody Rhodes did extend an invitation to Austin for the show, so the door isn’t completely shut.

“Yeah, so the invitation’s there. He’s also not far—I mean, we could helicopter him 3 hours away, Great American Bash style. I think Steve Stone Cold Steve Austin being, you know, we’re talking inside here, but this babyface individual, and we’re back in this unbelievable era where there are good guys in the business again. Here was the ultimate babyface who had the company on his back. I just would like him to be around to see how we’re doing. I want him to know, like, ‘Hey, we’re doing this Friday, we’re doing this Saturday,’ and I hope he’s proud of all of us because he really has set the table for us, him and The Rock, in a way that we can eat so fruitfully. So I’d love for Steve to do anything. Cody, we will see you in April, but until then, go get some sleep, QB1.’ I don’t think I’m going to sleep. I want to stay doing this interview because, yeah, he’s about to take me somewhere I don’t want to go.”

Whether Austin laces up his boots for a special moment at WrestleMania 41 or just sticks to meet-and-greets, one thing’s for sure—the glass-breaking pop will always be there if he decides to show up. Fans are already buzzing about the possibility, but until something is locked in, it’s all speculation
