Stokely Hathaway had fans seriously concerned after taking a brutal fall during AEW Worlds End—but thankfully, there’s a positive update on his condition.
During the AEW Worlds End post-show, Sean Ross Sapp gave an update on Hathaway’s condition following the scary table bump. He noted that he was told Stokely was doing okay after the spot.
“Stokely took a nasty table bump spot where the table didn’t budge. He slid over the top into the announce table. I heard Stokely’s okay.
Obviously not the way the spot was supposed to go. He had nothing to break that fall.”
The spot went down during the AEW Tag Team Championship match between FTR and The Bang Bang Gang. While standing on the apron with a steel chair in hand, Hathaway was shoved by Juice Robinson, sending him flying backwards. He completely missed the table, landing squarely on the back of his head. No cushion or slow fall. Just a painful thud that silenced the crowd.
From the angle shown on the pay-per-view, it looked brutal—and unplanned. Fans immediately feared a concussion or worse. So while there’s no word yet on whether Hathaway will miss any time, considering the fall, fans are just glad he walked away from it.
Stokely Hathaway has been a major onscreen presence for FTR over the past few months, and it would be a huge blow to lose him—especially like that.
What do you think—was the spot too dangerous for someone not actively wrestling? Should AEW rethink how they use managers in high-risk spots ? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
