Steven Borden—yes, Sting’s son—is expected to sign with AEW after a strong showing at Winter Is Coming, and that’s straight from inside the company.

Before AEW Dynamite aired live on December 10 from The Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia, Borden wrestled in a dark match against Kiran Grey. He not only picked up the win, but he made a hell of an impression doing it. Backstage reactions have since ignited serious talk about his future with AEW.

Tony Khan spoke to Fightful Select about the performance and didn’t hesitate to give the kind of praise that sounds like a prelude to a contract.

“I THOUGHT HE WAS EXCELLENT. He’s doing a great job. Very exciting in my opinion.”

Another AEW staff member went even further, joking they’d give up years of their NFL team winning just to have Borden’s look. That physique became the most talked-about trait among those who saw him in person. But the most telling reaction came from within the AEW system. One source reportedly said:

“He’s expected to be under AEW contract before long if he’s not already.”

AEW hasn’t made anything official yet, but the writing is on the wall. Borden isn’t just testing the waters—he’s being groomed for the roster. His entrance, by the way? “Immigrant Song” by Led Zeppelin. Cinematic. Loud. Confident. A debut track worthy of someone AEW clearly sees as more than just Sting’s son.

If the signing becomes official, Borden’s arrival would come at a perfect time. With Sting’s retirement looming, the idea of father and son crossing paths—or even sharing screen time—suddenly feels a lot more real.

Should AEW lock down Steven Borden now? Or do you think it’s too soon? Drop your opinion in the comments and let us know if you’re ready for a second-generation icon in the making.
