Just when fans thought they had seen the last of Sting in the ring, “The Icon” made it clear: the 2025 or Never retirement tour isn’t over yet.
In a new interview with Justin Dhillon of The Wrestling Classic, the AEW legend and WWE Hall of Famer dropped a surprise update that more appearances are still being added — and fans shouldn’t write off their last chance to see him just yet.
Sting looked directly into the camera as he addressed the uncertainty surrounding his upcoming schedule.
“The dates, they can’t… they can’t tell by looking at the dates. I’ll look at the camera now. I’m looking at my agent standing behind you guys right now. But the dates that you see online are not necessarily… they’re not done. So, there’s many, many more coming.”
He didn’t give specific locations or events, but the message was clear: the farewell tour is still in motion. For fans hoping to witness Sting one last time — the door hasn’t closed. Not yet.
However, in the same conversation, Sting also made it known that the legendary face paint era of his career is officially over. When asked whether he might ever return as Surfer Sting or don the paint one more time, he was firm.
“I’m getting a lot of responses from the fans, yes. And, you know, the common question is, ‘Are you sure this is it? I mean, you’re never going to be in the face paint again? What about if you did Surfer Sting?’ It’s like, I can’t pull off Surfer Sting anymore. But yeah… so yeah, I’m not— It’s not a goodbye, okay? But it’s just no more of this.”
So while the man may still show up, the paint — whether it’s black-and-white, Wolfpac red, or surfer blue — has officially been retired.
Sting’s career has been anything but typical, and it looks like his farewell will be just as unpredictable. Fans still have a shot to be part of it, but the clock is ticking.
