Sting may be one of the most iconic legends in pro wrestling history, but don’t expect him to be sitting at home reliving his greatest moments on replay.
During a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, The Icon opened up about his career-long habit of not watching his own matches—even the emotional retirement match he had at AEW Revolution.
When asked if he had gone back to watch his final match, Sting didn’t hesitate to reveal the truth.
“No… no… no. But you need to know a fact about me, and the fact is that for 40 years, I’ve never watched hardly anything that I’ve ever done. I see certain things, you know, fans or family members or friends will send a video, a two or three-minute clip of something, and you know, I watch stuff like that. And I’m not saying I haven’t seen like a whole match of mine, but it’s rare. It is so rare. I just… I mean, when I’m done, I take that hat off and go on with the next part of my life.”
Salcedo admitted the revelation was “crazy” to hear, but also understandable, pointing out that for Sting, it’s about living the moments rather than watching them back.
Sting agreed, sharing that these days, his energy is focused on enjoying life after wrestling, meeting fans, and hearing their stories rather than replaying old footage.
Love him or hate him, it’s clear Sting is ready to close that chapter—and he’s not interested in living in the rearview mirror.
What do you think—should Sting go back and relive those matches, or is his “move on” mindset the right call? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
