Steve Blackman might be one of WWE’s most underrated tough guys, but to a certain corner of the internet, he’s become something of a mythological figure—on par with Chuck Norris.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the former WWE Hardcore Champion finally got a dose of just how deep the meme lore goes, and his reaction was as real as it gets.
Van Vliet brought up the long-running internet joke trend where fans share exaggerated facts about Blackman’s toughness—classic meme-style posts that resemble the Chuck Norris phenomenon from the early 2000s. These “facts” range from absurd to hilarious, but they all paint Blackman as an unstoppable force.
“Steve Blackman was once charged with three attempted murders in Dauphin County, but the judge quickly dropped his charges because Steve Blackman does not attempt murder.”
Blackman, caught off guard and clearly amused, laughed at the over-the-top comparisons and seemed genuinely surprised by his meme status.
“Where do you find this stuff? Who has the time to put this stuff on there? These are great.”
He said sometimes the content pops up on his feed without warning, and he’s still confused by how widespread it’s become.
“Sometimes I’ll see things on YouTube… it’ll just pop up and you’re like, ‘Who puts all this stuff on here?’”
Van Vliet made sure to point out that behind the jokes is a real sense of admiration for Blackman’s legit toughness and martial arts skill.
“There’s a lot of respect for what you do and what you’re capable of doing.”
Blackman, always the quiet badass, appreciated the love but kept it humble.
“I appreciate it. I do.”
For a guy who never sought the spotlight outside of the ring, Blackman becoming a meme legend is just another chapter in his quiet but legendary status. Whether he likes it or not, Steve Blackman has been permanently etched into internet folklore—and fans can’t get enough.
