Stone Cold Steve Austin isn’t thinking about WrestleMania 41—he’s thinking about keeping his knee intact while tackling the Mint 400.

The WWE Hall of Famer, who underwent total knee replacement surgery on his left knee in December, gave an update during a conversation with Adrian Hernandez on his recovery, revealing that while he’s progressing well, he’s still got a long road ahead.

“Doing good, I’m about 13 weeks out. It really takes about a year for these things to fully heal up, so it’s still a little bit tender, but just got back in the car and started driving.”

Despite the lingering recovery, Austin is set to take on one of the toughest off-road races, explaining the challenge ahead.

“We’re about to run the Mint 400. Zach’s run it a couple of times but he’s broke, so he hadn’t finished it. It’s going to be a rough race, probably the roughest race I’ve ever driven. If I can just keep my knee together, that’s my break leg. I’m just going to do the best I can.”

The positive? He’s no longer dealing with the pain that had plagued him for years.

“The knee is feeling solid, I’m out of pain because it cut all of that arthritis out when they put that new joint in there. I’m in a good place, but I’ve got some work to do.”

As for WrestleMania 41, it sounds like Austin 3:16 won’t be making an appearance—at least not yet. In a separate interview, he confirmed there has been “zero contact” with WWE about bringing him in for the show.

With Austin still on the mend and fully locked in on the Mint 400, the chances of him showing up at WrestleMania seem slim. But with WWE always looking to pull off last-minute surprises, never say never when it comes to The Texas Rattlesnake.
