Despite fan speculation and a busted championship belt, WWE Women’s World Champion Stephanie Vaquer isn’t going anywhere.

Following weeks of storyline heat with Raquel Rodriguez—and real concerns about Vaquer’s visible ankle injury—Sean Ross Sapp has clarified that WWE currently has no plans to strip her of the title. Speaking on Fightful Select, Sapp gave a full update on Vaquer’s status after fans questioned whether she’d be forced to vacate the gold.

“As of this past week, there was no plan for Stephanie to vacate the title,” Sapp confirmed. “In fact, there were tentative creative plans for her next defense—which, I mean, they're setting up an angle with Raquel Rodriguez. We see that on TV every week.”

Vaquer’s injury—a sprained ankle—was serious enough to require a walking boot, but not enough to take her off the table completely.

“She sustained an ankle sprain and needed a walking boot. She was always cleared for contact, but obviously wrestling on that is a bad idea,” Sapp explained.

That said, unless her condition takes a sudden turn, Vaquer is still expected to defend her title—likely against Raquel Rodriguez, who has already attacked her twice on RAW in recent weeks.

“So, unless something catastrophic has happened, she's not vacating the title.”

The drama between Vaquer and Rodriguez escalated even further on the January 12 episode of RAW, when Raquel not only attacked Vaquer again but also broke her championship belt in the process. Raquel later posted about the damage, writing, “I don’t want to brag but….. I broke the title tonight 😬😎 oops 🤷🏻‍♀️😂”

Vaquer responded by posting the torn metal strap on Instagram with an angry emoji—clearly not amused by the destruction or Raquel’s attitude.

Despite the chaos, Vaquer’s reign continues—for now. WWE appears committed to the feud, and the title isn’t changing hands unless something drastic happens behind the scenes.

Do you think Stephanie Vaquer should risk defending her title with an ankle injury? Or should WWE hold off until she’s 100%? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
