WWE isn’t wasting any time addressing one of the most talked-about botched finishes on NXT TV. Thea Hail’s unexpected title win over Blake Monroe is getting an immediate rematch—and it’s officially going down at NXT New Year’s Evil 2026.
During the December 17 tapings at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, officials announced that Thea Hail will defend her newly won NXT Women’s North American Championship at the first major NXT event of the year.
This decision didn’t come out of nowhere. On the December 16 episode of WWE NXT on The CW Network, Hail defeated Monroe for the title—but it wasn’t supposed to happen. A botched finish turned the outcome into chaos, and WWE made a swift call to correct it.
WWE is hoping to restore order—or double down on the unexpected. The Hail-Monroe championship rematch now joins an already loaded card. Also set for January 6:
NXT New Year’s Evil 2026 will air live at 8/7c on The CW Network from Orlando’s WWE Performance Center.
The card is shaping up fast, and the rematch between Hail and Monroe might steal the spotlight—especially given how their last encounter ended.
Will Thea Hail prove her win was legit, or will Blake Monroe take back what many say she never should’ve lost?
What do you think about WWE’s decision to book an immediate rematch after the botch? Should Hail keep the belt or was it all a mistake? Drop your thoughts in the comments—we want to hear from you.
