The Rock’s return to SmackDown tonight is more than just a surprise—it’s the stage for a massive WrestleMania 42 announcement.
According to PWInsider, The Final Boss will officially reveal that WrestleMania 42 will take place at the Superdome in New Orleans next year.
While there’s speculation that The Rock’s role tonight could extend beyond the announcement, PWInsider confirms that the New Orleans reveal is 100% happening. WWE has been teasing that The Rock has “a big beautiful gift” for the city, and now we know exactly what that means.
The timing of his appearance wasn’t part of WWE’s long-term plans either. Reports indicate that his involvement was locked in just last night, forcing the company to scramble and shift SmackDown’s entire layout to accommodate his return.
Naomi vs. Liv Morgan was scrapped to make room for The Rock’s segment.
Additionally, WWE is putting together a post-SmackDown press conference, which is expected to stream online. While the details of that presser are still unfolding, The Rock’s involvement seems like a given.
