WWE already loaded up tonight’s SmackDown, and now there’s word on how the show will kick off.
According to Bodyslam.net, Sami Zayn is set to open the show tonight — just one week after winning the United States Championship. Zayn was already advertised to address the crowd, but this update confirms he’ll be the first major segment of the night.
That puts extra attention on Zayn right out of the gate, especially after his recent title win put him back in the spotlight. Opening SmackDown usually signals WWE wants to make a strong statement early, and Zayn now gets the first chance to set the tone.
Tonight’s SmackDown is already stacked with major names and WrestleMania 42 storylines moving forward. Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss are scheduled to team up against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a preview of their upcoming WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match at WrestleMania. Rhea Ripley is also set to face Mia Yim, while Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu are both scheduled to speak.
With Zayn kicking things off as champion, all eyes will be on what he says — and whether anyone interrupts him to make an immediate statement.
