WWE has locked in the opening match for tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown — and it’s a championship bout.
Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net shared the early internal rundown for the show, revealing that the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship match is scheduled to kick things off.
“Early rundown for tonight’s #SmackDown lists Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky vs Lash Legend and Nia Jax for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship as kicking off the show.”
That means Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY will defend their titles against the duo of Nia Jax and Lash Legend in the opening segment from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
SmackDown is already stacked with Elimination Chamber qualifying matches and the Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu vs. Sami Zayn triple threat set to headline the show, but it appears the women’s tag division will get the first spotlight.
