WWE SmackDown on January 9, 2026 went down at the Uber Arena in Berlin, Germany, and the night was capped off by an insane main event.
Cody Rhodes put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Drew McIntyre in a 3 Stages of Hell match. The first stage was a straight wrestling match, the second was a falls count anywhere match, and the third saw them battle in a steel cage.
Drew McIntyre was able to win the first pinfall early into the match. Then the two started the second fall, which included battling through the crowd in the falls count anywhere match. Finally, Cody Rhodes got the second fall after nailing a Crossroads through a table. Then the steel cage dropped from the ceiling. After a brutal battle in the confined ring, one that included a ton of near falls, Jacob Fatu showed up to destroy Drew McIntyre. After all, the Scottish Warrior was blamed for taking Jacob out of action.
Suddenly, Jacob Fatu turned his rage to Cody Rhodes, and then Drew McIntyre climbed out of the cage to win the match. Drew McIntyre celebrated as he crawled away with his fourth World Title.
This was a big shock, but some fans saw it coming. It was reported that Jacob Fatu was spotted backstage in Germany. That upped things up with all gas and no brakes.
After being sidelined in October following a brutal segment with Drew McIntyre, and undergoing serious dental surgery, Fatu made his return to the fold in Germany. WWE has big plans for Jacob Fatu, and this is obviously just the beginning in 2026.
WWE already has big plans to figure out the next #1 contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship. We will have to see what is in store for the SmackDown brand after this.
