Jacob Fatu is expected to return to WWE television during the January 9 episode of SmackDown in Berlin, Germany—but don’t expect him to be the same fan-favorite he was before.

During a Self Made Session on January 5, 2026, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE has internally penciled in Fatu for this week’s show. After months away due to a storyline beatdown and dental surgery, it looks like the “Samoan Werewolf” is finally coming back to the hunt.

“Jacob Fatu is scheduled to return on Friday’s show. I was initially told about this a week ago.”

However, there’s a twist. While Fatu left as a babyface, WWE creative has been discussing a new direction for his character—one that could shift him into heel territory.

“There have been pitches made for Jacob Fatu to not come back as an outright babyface. That’s one thing I’ve also been told about. Yes, he left as a babyface.”

Fatu’s absence has been felt ever since his brutal October exit, where Drew McIntyre left him bloodied and in desperate need of dental work. The moment was so gruesome that Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer said:

“He was laying in a pool of his own blood and teeth — there were teeth all over the place.”

Bodyslam.net previously reported that WWE was planning a big 2026 for Fatu, with hopes of a breakout year once he returned. If these new details pan out, that comeback begins this Friday—with a possible character change on the horizon.
