WWE is ushering in 2026 in a big way, as the SmackDown brand will be an hour longer from this point on. They have even more time to fill, and they’re getting things started already.

The December 19 edition of WWE SmackDown went down at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This was a special night, because they also taped SmackDown for the day after Christmas, and we have full spoilers.

The company is building toward a lot of things, and SmackDown will change a bit next year. The blue brand is going to be a three-hour show, and now we know what they are booking on that first show at the KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

During the December 26 episode of SmackDown, a backstage segment with Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss spiraled into a shouting match that quickly turned into a full women’s locker room brawl. After officials tried to restore order, WWE announced an eight woman tag team match for the first SmackDown in January.

This match will have a bit of weight to it. There will be a #1 contender spot up for grabs. The winners earning the number one contender spot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

They also announced Jade Cargill will take on Michin. Aleister Black and Damian Priest will also throw down in singles action.
