The first Monday Night RAW of 2026 is shaping up to be an unforgettable show — and now we know exactly how it’s going to end.

According to PWInsider Elite, the main event for the January 5, 2026 episode of RAW will be none other than CM Punk defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker. The long-rumored match had already been advertised as part of the night’s loaded card, but this confirmation locks it in as the closing bout of the night.

This will mark Punk’s first televised defense of the title since winning it at WWE Bad Blood, and there’s a lot riding on it. Breakker earned the opportunity after pinning Punk during the Men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series, and he’s been red-hot ever since. Now, the spotlight will be on both men to deliver a show-closing clash that could shift the landscape of WWE moving forward.

The full card is already stacked with championship matches and returns — including Becky Lynch challenging Maxxine Dupri, and The Kabuki Warriors defending against Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY — but all eyes will be on the main event.

CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker isn’t just a title bout — it’s the defining match of the first RAW of the new year, and possibly the first hint of what WWE’s main event scene will look like heading into WrestleMania season. Will Breakker rise to the top, or will Punk continue his reign as the Second City Saint?

WWE RAW Lineup for January 5, 2026 Episode:

  • WWE World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Bron Breakker
  • Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Maxxine Dupri (c) vs. Becky Lynch
  • WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY
