Sonya Deville has claimed that she has retired from professional wrestling for now, following her WWE release.

While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Sonya Deville confirmed that for now, she considers herself retired from wrestling. She explained that while she doesn’t completely close the door on a return, she feels at peace with where things are. Wrestling somewhere else feels strange to her because she was deeply loyal to WWE, having been with the company from age 21 to 31.

That loyalty runs deep, and thinking about working outside of WWE feels like reopening an emotional wound. She called herself a ride-or-die person, making it difficult to picture herself wrestling anywhere else.

“Definitely for now. Never say never. But right now I feel at peace with that. I’m not gonna lie, and I haven’t said this, but it almost is like an open wound, and if I think about wrestling somewhere else, it’s like I was so loyal to the company, it was my only home from 21 years old to 31. I’m a ride or die type of person in general. So it’s weird to even think about doing that, but not there. I’m retired. That’s right.”

Deville also talked about her interest in acting. Even though she could return to the independent wrestling scene and earn a good living like others such as Matt Cardona and Shotzi, her heart is currently set on acting.

Deville admitted that continuing with wrestling would be the easier route, but she’s working hard to stay true to what she really wants in this next chapter of her life.

“Even with the acting thing, I could easily go to the indies right now and make a great living like the likes of Matt Cardona and Shotzi, but my heart wants to act right now. So while the easier path would be to continue down the wrestling world, I’m trying really hard to stay true to what I want.”

Sonya Deville has also left the door open for a return to the world of MMA, something that she was not really able to explore as much after she joined WWE. Therefore, we’ll have to see if Deville will return to wrestling one day, as that doesn’t seem likely anytime soon.
