Sol Ruca isn’t staying quiet anymore. The NXT breakout star has had enough of fans questioning her background, especially when WWE includes her in Black History Month content. While she’s been open about her heritage—her father is African-American—that hasn’t stopped trolls from demanding proof.

During her appearance on The Ringer Show, Sol Ruca spoke about the constant backlash she receives online every February. She recalled one specific moment when WWE shared a Black History Month graphic that featured her—then briefly took it down—causing a flood of speculation from fans.

“Well, there was one year where they made the post and they took it down because I think they forgot to put some people in it or had to move people around, whatever it was. But it was up long enough for people to start flooding the comments. And so when it got taken down, they’re like, ‘Oh, it’s because Sol is in there. She’s not supposed to be there. I can’t believe they messed that up,’ blah blah blah. Then they repost it and I was still there and everyone was like, ‘Wait, what?’”

Sol explained that even after the post went back up, she continued to face nasty comments and accusations from fans who just couldn’t believe she belonged in the lineup. Some even demanded she post receipts.

“Then of course everyone’s like, ‘Oh, show me proof. Show me proof.’ And, you know, shouldn’t have to show people proof because why the hell would I lie about that? But, you know, when they see my family, most of the time they’re like, ‘Okay, yeah, I get it.’ But then there’s always those people who are like, ‘No, she’s mixed. Like she’s not 100%, she’s a quarter, 20%, or 10%. Like she’s not full.’ And I’m like, guys, I’m not lying about this. I have nothing to gain. Why would someone lie about that? It just… yeah, it is what it is.”

Despite the disrespect, Sol remains grounded. She’s proud of who she is and refuses to let trolls online strip her of that. The constant need to explain herself hasn’t been easy, but it hasn’t shaken her confidence.

This whole situation speaks to a bigger problem in wrestling and entertainment—where athletes are unfairly judged by appearance and pressured to justify their identity to the public.

Fans can debate wrestling storylines all they want, but questioning someone’s racial background? That’s a line that shouldn’t be crossed.
