Sol Ruca and Zaria have been a tag team for the past several months, and their oddball pairing has definitely become popular with fans. However, it appears that their tag team wasn’t supposed to last as long as it has.
While speaking on The Ringer Show, Sol Ruca talked about her partnership with Zaria, saying it’s been great working with her. She admitted they definitely did not see this coming. She explained that when Zaria first arrived, they never pictured themselves tagging down the road, let alone ending up together at Evolution. She called it insane how it all worked out.
“It’s been great working with her. We definitely did not see this coming, like when she first got here we definitely did not picture us, you know, tagging down the road, especially being at Evolution. Insane.”
Sol Ruca also talked about her relationship with social media, addressing where she falls on the spectrum of needing it and engaging with it versus wanting to avoid it because people can say mean things. Sol said it’s a tough balance, especially with WWE moving more toward a social media-driven model.
Ruca pointed out that she was recruited through social media, so it’s very important for her success to stay connected with fans. She added that so many things happen just because of posts online, like with her and Zaria. They weren’t supposed to be tagging this long, but they made a post that either went viral or people just loved it, and now they’ve been paired up for the past few months because of it.
“It’s a tough balance, especially with how WWE is being transitioned to more social media type stuff. I mean, I got recruited through social media. So it is very, very important for your success here to just engage with the crowd.
And, you know, there’s so many things that happen because of just like social media posts. Like Zari and I — I don’t think we were supposed to be tagging this long, but we made a post and it kind of went viral, or people loved it, and now we’ve been stuck together for the past few months.”
Sol Ruca and Zaria’s journey is proof that anything can happen in wrestling and social media can definitely make a wrestler more successful than expected. In the meantime, Ruca and Zaria are set to compete at Evolution for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles in a Fatal 4-Way, so we’ll have to see how that will turn out for them.
