Skye Blue is ready to step back into the AEW ring after a grueling 10-month recovery from a broken ankle.
Speaking to Chicago’s WGN Radio, Blue opened up about how much this return means to her, especially since it’s happening at the Now Arena in Chicago — the very place where she signed with AEW.
“I am very nervous, very anxious,” Blue admitted. “It’s been a long 10 months, but this has been what I’ve been itching to get back to for those 10 months. So, I’m very excited. I’m very excited that it’s at home. It’s at the Now Arena. It’s the building that I got signed in, the building that means so much to me, and I get to have my family there. I get to have Kyle there, and I will be bawling my eyes out by the end of it.”
Blue’s return has been confirmed for AEW Dynamite Beach Break, where she will compete in a fatal four-way match. As she prepares to get back in the ring, Blue is also adjusting to the chaos of a multi-person match.
“I think it’s definitely, you know, now there’s three people to worry about instead of one,” Blue said. “But at the same time, with more moving parts, there’s more distractions… it’ll maybe take away from the nerves of, hey, this is your first one back and there’s a lot of people here and it’s going to be really loud.”
Reflecting on her recovery, Blue revealed how long and difficult the past ten months have been for her and her boyfriend Kyle. “It’s been the longest 10 months of my life, I think, and probably the longest 10 months of Kyle’s. But it doesn’t feel real that it’s already here. It feels like yesterday I was at the hospital with a broken ankle.”
Blue’s return will be emotional, but with her family and Kyle in the crowd, she’s determined to make it count. Will Skye Blue’s comeback be a defining moment in her AEW career, or will the pressure of her first match back be too much to handle? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
