Will Ospreay says he plans to return to the ring in just a month despite suffering two herniated discs in his neck—an injury typically expected to sideline talent much longer.

The AEW star confirmed that he’s suffering from two herniated discs—C2 and C6—pressing against his spinal cord, but still plans to return at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door on August 24. After staying quiet about his condition for months, Ospreay finally told fans the truth.

“I didn’t tell any of the doctors. I didn’t tell any of the other wrestlers. Probably shouldn’t have done that. But I just wanted to get through all of this.”

Following a brutal beatdown by the Death Riders, Ospreay was rushed to the ER and underwent an MRI. That’s when the discs were discovered. Despite the severity, he told doctors he wants to push through, and they say the injury is treatable. But Meltzer couldn’t believe the timeline.

“It’s shocking that he said he’d be back in a month with two herniated discs… It sure sounded like something that should be a year off,” he stated on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Meltzer also noted that months ago, Ospreay revealed he had temporarily lost feeling in his hand while holding his son—an early sign of the nerve damage he was hiding.

“When he said that—and I knew it was a shoot—I thought, ‘This is not good at all.’”

Still, Ospreay insists he’ll be back in action in time for London’s Forbidden Door, showing no signs of slowing down—even with a spine injury that would sideline most for a year.
