Former WWE star Shotzi has built her career on being fearless, but nothing compares to the truth she recently shared about her own past. She revealed a painful family betrayal that still haunts her to this day.
Speaking on the Rulebreakers podcast with Saraya (formerly Paige in WWE), Shotzi explained that after she reported years of abuse, the fallout at home became even more devastating than the abuse itself.
“I thought like at that moment, all that stuff was over… and it was actually afterwards — the stuff that my mom put me through — that was the hardest part of my life. Because she did not… I don’t know if it’s because she didn’t believe me or because she was so mad that I went to the police about it and didn’t go to her… she was on the side of my uncle.”
She said the betrayal went far beyond disbelief.
“When I went to court for it — she was with him. And she actually… she actually paid for his lawyer. She took out a loan from the house to be able to get him a lawyer against me.”
Shotzi also revealed the cruel insults that came with her mother’s decision.
“She constantly would call me a whore. A slut. She would say that I wanted it. Yeah. Like, to a 12-year-old. I’m like, ’ But it started when I was much younger.”
The painful truth shows how trauma can be multiplied when family members choose to protect an abuser rather than stand with the victim. For Shotzi, the betrayal became one of the deepest scars of all. Her willingness to put these details into the open demonstrates incredible resilience, proving she won’t be silenced even by those who once turned their backs on her.
Shotzi’s story raises an uncomfortable but important question—how do survivors heal when their own family sides with the abuser? Leave your thoughts and reactions in the comments below.
