Former WWE star Shotzi has always built her reputation on fearlessness, but nothing compares to the emotional strength she showed when speaking about her own past.
On the Rulebreakers podcast with Saraya, Shotzi opened up about being betrayed by her mother after reporting years of abuse at the hands of her uncle. She recalled how her mother sided with her abuser, even going as far as paying for his legal defense, a decision that left scars deeper than the abuse itself.
“It hurt me more that my mom defended him than what he actually did to me.”
Shotzi revealed that the betrayal wasn’t just financial support—it was emotional cruelty that came with years of judgment and slurs.
“I felt like my mom didn’t believe me, or she just didn’t care about what happened to me. That was harder to deal with than anything else.”
Despite the betrayal, Shotzi explained that she eventually reached a point where she needed to let go of her anger. Forgiveness didn’t mean excusing what happened—it meant freeing herself from carrying that pain forever.
“I love my mom… I forgive her… but what she did was not okay.”
She went further, explaining why forgiveness was necessary for her own healing.
“I had to forgive her for myself, otherwise I’d just stay angry forever. But I’ll never say it was okay, because it wasn’t. She failed me, and that’s something I’ll carry forever.”
Even after forgiving, Shotzi admitted that the damage shaped who she became, both as a performer and as a person.
“I don’t hold hate toward her anymore, but the damage is done. It’s part of why I became who I am, why I put so much into performing.”
Shotzi’s story is raw, heartbreaking, and brave—choosing forgiveness not for her mother, but for her own survival. Her willingness to share proves that even the deepest wounds can be faced with honesty and strength.
