Shotzi Earns Women’s North American Title Opportunity on 1/14 WWE NXT

WWE’s NXT brand brought an exciting show for their January 14 episode. That included them figuring out who will face Fallon Henley for her title next.

Fallon Henley is still the NXT Women’s North American Champion, but she needs a new challenger. They figured that out this week on NXT with an intense #1 contender match.

The NXT Women’s North American Championship number one contenders match went down this week as Shotzi took on Stephanie Vaquer. Even though Vaquer won a #1 contender match last week, Shotzi was able to pin Fallon Henley in a tag team match as well, so that got her in the front of the line for a title opportunity.

This match was the first of the night, right after Oba Femi’s championship celebration that resulted in a blindsided attack. The winner of this #1 contender match will face Fallon Henley in Atlanta in two weeks.

Stephanie Vaquer and Shotzi Blackheart battled through a commercial break on the show, and neither of them wanted to give up an inch to their competitor. This was a back-and-forth match, and Shotzi nailed a hurricanrana off the top rope as they came back from commercial.

Jacy Jayne got involved mid-way through the match, and she was pulled into the ring to take some punishment from both competitors. Then Fallon Henley nailed Stephanie with her title and it helped Shotzi get the win.

We will have to see what’s next for Stephanie Vaquer, but they are certainly not making her quest to become NXT Women’s North American Champion an easy one.
