Shiloh Hill was definitely one of the standouts during Season 1 of WWE LFG, but many fans wondered how he came up with his name in the first place and now the origins of his WWE name have been revealed.

While speaking to MuscleManMalcolm, Shiloh Hill was asked who came up with his ring name. He noted that a lot of people at the Performance Center think Thunder is just a ring name and Shiloh is the real name but in reality, Thunder is his legal name.

When joining WWE, there was some concern whether it would be okay to wrestle using a real name, since WWE usually wants to own the rights to a wrestler’s name. However, Hill noted that at the Performance Center, the process is more of a team effort, where the wrestler and creative team work together to come up with a name.

“It’s pretty ironic. A lot of people—especially new people at the PC—think that Thunder is my ring name and Shiloh is my real name. But actually, Thunder is my legal name. Yeah, that’s my real name.

That was something I was wondering about when I got here—if I’d be allowed to wrestle under my legal name. I know most of the time they want to own the copyright to a name, so it’s kind of a process. At the PC, it’s pretty collaborative—you work with creative to come up with something.”

Shiloh Hill is a name that he personally picked. It was inspired by two things: the musician Shiloh Dynasty, known for lo-fi music, and the video game Silent Hill. The name mixes both of those influences together.

“I actually liked the name Shiloh Hill. I’ve always liked the musician Shiloh Dynasty—have you ever heard any of their lo-fi music? And I also really liked the game Silent Hill. So, it kind of sounds like both. I just tried to mix them together.”

Funnily enough, even John Oliver previously called out WWE for not letting Shiloh Hill use his real name, Thunder Justice Keck. Regardless, it was Hill’s choice to create a name that felt like his own and fans have obviously embraced it now.
