Tattoos are very common in professional wrestling, with many wrestlers having several, including CM Punk and Randy Orton. However, Cody Rhodes’ neck tattoo has been a controversial choice for many. In fact, even Sheamus has made it clear that he would never get a tattoo like Rhodes’.
While speaking on The Masked Men Show, Sheamus talked about Cody Rhodes getting his gigantic neck tattoo. Sheamus hoped that Rhodes would make the decision to get that tattoo after drinking about 20 bourbons.
When asked whether he would get a neck tattoo like Cody Rhodes, Sheamus made it clear he has no intention of doing that. He stated that he would need to drink thousands of Guinness beers before even considering it, saying there’s no chance he’d ever get an “Irish Nightmare” tattoo. He added that while everyone has their own personal choices, his decision is clear—absolutely not. He also mentioned that beyond public reaction, his own family would never let him live it down, especially his mother.
“I hope he had about 20 bourbons before he made that decision. How many Guinness I’d drink to get a neck tattoo? You’re talking about the thousands mate. There’s no way, no “Irish Nightmare” tattoo. I would die of liver and kidney failure before that happened. Everything people do is a personal choice, it’s what makes us different. My personal choice is not a bleeding chance. Forget about the public response. My dad alone, my family would ridicule me and laugh at me. My mother, jaysus, she would go to down on me.”
While tattoos are an expression of individuality, not every wrestler is on board with the idea of extreme ink placement. Sheamus’ strong stance against neck tattoos, especially one like Cody Rhodes’ makes it clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see him with one in this lifetime and that’s unlikely to ever change.
Do you agree with Sheamus, or do you think Cody Rhodes’ neck tattoo is a great part of his persona? Would you ever consider getting a tattoo in such a bold location? Share your thoughts in the comments!
