Sheamus is all about putting on bangers after bangers and putting it all on the line in the ring. That’s what happened during the June 30th edition of Raw in his match against Rusev but some people claimed the match had no story. Unsurprisingly, Sheamus has now ripped into those people who made such a claim.

While speaking on Cheap Heat Live, Sheamus fired back at fans and so-called experts online who claimed his match with Rusev on Raw had no story. He said the real story was in the ring itself.

Sheamus said he and Rusev knew exactly what they were doing and made sure to leave everything they had out there. He pointed out that he doesn’t book the show or write the storylines, so as a WWE star, all he can do is make the most of what he’s given.

Sheamus explained that even the promos they were handed, like mentioning the League of Nations, were just part of it. He brought up Rusev leaving for AEW and vanishing from WWE because that was real life. Rusev also targeted his neck, which tied into real events as well.

“I’ve heard online, those so-called experts who said, ‘I skipped past this, there was no story so I wasn’t invested.’ The story was inside the ring. We knew what we did and we knew we left it all in the ring, and that’s all you can do. I don’t book this show or write this stuff, I’m not going after creative, but all you can do as a WWE star is do the best with what you’re given.

The promos we were given, like the League of Nations being mentioned, I had to goad him about leaving to go to AEW and disappearing off the map, because that’s real life. He went after my neck and that was real life too.”

At the end of the day, Sheamus said all you can do is take what you’re given and make it the best it can be. They had three segments on Monday and knew it would draw people in, and if it meant beating the hell out of each other, so be it. They love wrestling, have pride in their work, and always want to steal the show and Sheamus believes that’s exactly what they did.

For Sheamus, the story was told through their fight in the ring. Unlike others who get long promos at the start or middle of Raw every week, he didn’t need that. He and Rusev went out, tore into each other, wore their hearts on their sleeves and showed how much passion they have for what they do.

“So all you can do is take whatever you’re given and make it the best you can. We got three segments on Monday and we knew we were gonna draw people in, and if we had to knock lumps out of each other, we were gonna leave it all in the ring. We love what we do, we have pride in what we do, and we want to steal the show—and that’s what we did.

Our story was in the ring, that’s what it was. Other people get 20-minute promos at the start of Raw or the middle of Raw week after week—f*** that, man. We went out there, we tore each other apart, and you know what, we have pride and our hearts were right there on our sleeve.”

In the end, Sheamus feels that the heart, toughness, and realness he and Rusev showed in their match told a better story than any scripted promo ever could. For the Celtic Warrior, that’s all that really matters.
