Shawn Michaels finally revealed his wrestling Mount Rushmore during a recent interview with Going Ringside, and his picks are a nod to the classic era that shaped his career. When asked to name his top four, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted it wasn’t an easy call.
“Yeah, I guess. I mean, I don’t know. To me, I’ve always felt like there’s — I don’t know — they’re just your personal favorites, I think,” Michaels said. “But I, yeah, I’ve got a few I guess, but mine, you know, date back to usually the mid 80s or late 70s.”
Pressed for specific names, Michaels listed his top three right away: “I always put Terry Funk in there. I usually put Harley Race in there, Ric Flair.” But that fourth spot? That was a tough one for the Heartbreak Kid.
“That fourth one’s always a little tough for me. It sort of goes to Tully Blanchard because that’s who I grew up with or Wahoo McDaniels,” he explained.
Unlike some other wrestling icons, Michaels didn’t go for mainstream megastars or current-day headliners. Instead, he chose the wrestlers who influenced him early in his career — the ones who shaped the wrestler he would eventually become.
