Shawn Michaels says Sexyy Red helped put him back on the map—and it all comes after those videos started blowing up online.

Days after opening NXT Stand & Deliver on April 4, 2026 with a throwback DX-style segment alongside Sexyy Red, HBK is now reacting to the online explosion that followed—and he’s putting the credit on her.

The segment, which saw Michaels and the St. Louis native drop the classic “suck it” line to kick off the show, quickly spread across social media. But according to Michaels, the attention isn’t really about nostalgia—it’s about how ridiculous the whole thing looked.

Speaking on 7PM in Brooklyn with Carmelo Anthony on April 6, 2026, Michaels was asked about the clips going viral online—and he didn’t hesitate to lean into it: “Well, because nobody acts like that big of an idiot on live television except for a few of us.”

Michaels then made it clear that Sexyy Red played a major role in getting people talking—and even joked that she helped revive his presence in the limelight.

“Well, yeah, I’ll say this—I appreciate Sexyy Red from that standpoint. She’s kind of put HBK back on the map again with all of it.”

He didn’t stop there. Michaels also poked fun at himself, acknowledging just how wild it looked seeing him try to move like his younger self in front of a modern crowd. Still, despite all that, he made it clear he’s enjoying the ride.

“Yeah, it’s silliness is what it is. It’s absolute silliness—watching a 60-year-old man go out there and try to move like he was 25 or 35, which is just not a chance. But it’s been fun.”

The original Stand & Deliver opening was meant to fire up the crowd inside The Factory—but it ended up doing way more than that. The DX throwback instantly caught traction online, and with Sexyy Red involved, it reached a completely different audience outside the usual wrestling bubble. Now, Michaels isn’t trying to downplay it—he’s embracing the chaos and giving credit where he thinks it’s due.

Did WWE strike gold pairing Shawn Michaels with Sexyy Red, or was the viral moment bigger than the actual show? Drop your thoughts below and let us know.
