Shawn Michaels is proud of what’s happening in NXT—but he’s not sugarcoating how difficult it is to manage one of the deepest women’s rosters in wrestling today.
While chatting with Good Karma Wrestling, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked about NXT’s powerful women’s division, especially in the wake of standout matches like Stephanie Vaquer vs. Jordynne Grace. Michaels got real about the pressure behind the scenes.
“It really is challenging as we begin to move forward here because someone’s always kind of going to get left out,” he said. “I guess that’s the most challenging part is that we have so many talented women, and it’s hard to be able to highlight all of them.”
And it’s not for lack of effort. HBK broke down just how many performers NXT tries to spotlight every single week.
“I would argue that NXT does such a good job of highlighting our talent. I mean, we have, you know, 25 to 30, sometimes even 40 talent at least ID’d on a show on any Tuesday night,” Michaels said. “But there’s still plenty of other people that are waiting in the wings to jump up and have their breakout moment.”
Still, Michaels made it clear he’s looking ahead to the summer with plans to give more names the spotlight they deserve.
“That’s something we’re looking forward to here over the summer—highlighting more superstars here in NXT.”
With the NXT roster stacked like never before and more cross-promotional opportunities with TNA on the table, the real challenge might be finding enough airtime for all the hungry talent waiting to break out.
