Seth Rollins Restricted Matt Riddle’s Promos During WWE Feud

Matt Riddle is letting it all out on the line.

During his time in WWE, Matt Riddle was involved in a few interesting stories. One of his standout feuds saw him take on Seth Rollins. However, there were allegedly limitations to what Riddle could say.

Matt Riddle recently spoke with TMZ Inside the Ring about his past WWE storyline with Seth Rollins, revealing how certain topics were restricted during their on-screen feud. This is interesting, especially since Riddle’s ex-wife previously trashed Becky Lynch, however the two have since made up.

“I remember even being in storylines with Seth. I told Seth, ‘Hey, you can say this about me, say this about my kids, you can say this about my wife leaving me.’ I said he could. I was like, ‘You know what? These people are going to be like, “Holy crap.”’ Do you know what he told me? I could say nothing.”

“Really. Because he didn’t want—he said about Becky Lynch, that’s about it. He didn’t want me to say anything about Becky until after he dropped that huge bomb about my wife leaving me and taking the kids and etc. And then by like a month later, he’s like, ‘Yeah, you can say like Becky’s the one that wears the pants in the house,’ or that.”

“That’s so unfair. No—after that happened, it was all—everything was off. Well, you know what’s unfair? Give credit where credit’s due. I had to live through that [__] storm and then I gave it to you as ammunition. The least he could do is say something like, ‘Hey, kudos to Matt Riddle for leaving it all out there and being vulnerable so we could have one of the best storylines of that year.’”

Matt Riddle confirmed that the “your wife left you” promo, which became a major talking point among fans, was something he pitched himself. He continued to say that this was something he knew would connnect with fans.

“No, I told him he could say it. I didn’t know exactly the details of what he was going to say, but I was like, I go, ‘Why don’t you say I’m a loser, that’s why your wife left you and took your kids.’ And that right there I felt—and then he kind of added his flavor onto it—but that’s basically what he said. And the thing is, I still get asked and talked to about that promo till this day because I knew the effect it would have. Kids have had parents get divorced and they had to go one side or even the adults that are going through it, etc. I knew it would connect with millions upon millions of people around the world because it was real and it hit home.”

Matt Riddle has been through quite a journey since his time in WWE ended. That being said, not all headlines were great. Riddle has been accused of several things, as his name has brought controversy to it for years. He was also accused of holding up a concert promoter for more money. Misha Montana, Riddle’s significant other, later threatened legal action of that situation.

Riddle’s own WWE exit was related to over a dozen backstage infractions. That being said, he is still a controversial figure, but the Original Bro doesn’t seem to let that bother him as he continues with zero censor at this point.
