WWE was gearing up to give LA Knight a major spotlight at SummerSlam—until an unexpected injury to Seth Rollins flipped everything upside down.

According to a report from BodySlam.net, LA Knight was set for a two-part storyline with Rollins that would’ve ended with a huge moment at SummerSlam. But those plans have now been scrapped due to Rollins being sidelined.

“LA Knight was originally scheduled to lose to Seth Rollins at Saturday Night’s Main Event and get his win back at SummerSlam in a high-profile rematch.”

The original plan had Knight taking a loss to Rollins at WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event before bouncing back with a win at SummerSlam in what was set to be a massive rematch. That narrative is now dead in the water with Rollins expected to miss time.

As reported earlier, Rollins himself admitted he may be out of action “for an extended period,” though rumors suggest he still might make a major splash at SummerSlam by cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase on the winner of the CM Punk vs. GUNTHER match.

Unfortunately, LA Knight has already lost momentum, failing to win the recent gauntlet match to become the #1 contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. While nothing official has been announced regarding his SummerSlam direction, it’s clear the injury derailed a prime opportunity.

There’s no doubt LA Knight has the charisma and crowd behind him—but with the Rollins match off the table, it remains to be seen if WWE will pivot and give him another high-profile moment.
