Hulk Hogan always finds a way to get attention, whether good or bad, in and out of wrestling. During WWE RAW’s Netflix debut on January 6, fans loudly booed everything Hogan said, and this came as a shock to many. However, Scott Steiner has now made it clear that he didn’t find it surprising at all.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Scott Steiner talked about his relationship with Hulk Hogan over the years. Steiner made it clear he was not surprised that Hulk Hogan was booed during WWE RAW’s Netflix debut.
Steiner believes the reaction was justified due to Hogan’s past controversies, particularly his racist comments, which only became public because they were recorded behind closed doors.
“He’s a motherf***** and a piece of s***. What am I going to do now? But I don’t forget. There’s a reason why he got booed in California. Wasn’t surprised—all the stuff that came out, his racist comments. Now, you wouldn’t have found that out if it wasn’t recorded behind closed doors.”
Steiner feels that WWE and WCW created an image of Hogan that didn’t reflect who he truly was. Having been close friends with Randy Savage, he claims to have heard many stories about Hogan’s behavior. He also recalled an incident where Hogan tried to have him arrested.
“So I think a lot of people realized that the perception WWE and WCW wanted of Hulk Hogan was not really him—you know, the racist comments. Hogan and Savage… I was good friends with Savage, so I knew all the stories. And of course, the one time he tried to put me in jail.”
It was also previously reported that WWE is planning a potential heel turn for Hulk Hogan following the negative reception he received during the RAW Netflix premiere. Nevertheless, Hulk Hogan’s place in WWE is still a topic of interest, especially after the mixed reactions at RAW, and we’ll have to see when Hogan will return to WWE television.
What’s your opinion on what Scott Steiner had to say? Do you think WWE should continue to feature Hogan despite the backlash, or should they move on from him completely? Share your thoughts in the comments!
