Saraya has been off the wrestling radar since October 2024, stepping away from AEW and the ring to focus on personal growth and outside projects.
During that time, she launched her podcast Rulebreakers, began working on a book, and embraced life beyond pro wrestling. Now, after a full year away, Saraya is finally revealing when she’s planning to step back into the ring—and the itch to return is very real.
In an interview with the Toronto Sun, she was asked if her time spent outside wrestling made her more or less likely to come back. That simple question opened the door to a heartfelt answer about rediscovering her passion.
“You know, I’ve had a wonderful year to kind of, you know, dip my toe into the outside of wrestling world, and it’s been so wonderful and I have loved it and I have enjoyed it. But, you know, I do—once you’re a wrestler, you always miss it, you know. And it’s just—I am starting to get the bug for it again, because I went through a stage where I kind of like fell out of love with it for a second. And I’m just like, ‘I need to take a break from it.’ And that was the whole goal, you know.”
She explained that while 2025 was meant to be focused on non-wrestling ventures, the spark to compete again has slowly returned.
“But I’ve just found, like, this new love for it again, and I found this new passion for it again. And I, you know, I’m gonna get into training in January and we’ll see where that takes me, you know. Because I feel like I do—if I was to ever come back, you know, not saying I am, but if I was to ever come back, I want to be at the top of my game and be wrestling better than I was wrestling back when I was in NXT, you know. So that’s my goal.”
She even mentioned reaching out to a familiar name for help getting back in ring shape.
“And I’ve actually asked Natty a few times—like, she wants me to go down to the Dungeon and stuff in Florida. So I was like, absolutely, you know.”
So how likely is a return? Saraya didn’t lock anything in, but she gave fans a strong hint.
“So I miss it. I love it. I think the percentage of me going back is a lot higher now, you know. But we’ll see where it goes. We’ll see where it goes. Who knows what will happen?”
After a year off and a new mindset, it looks like January 2026 could be when Saraya starts preparing for her comeback. Whether that leads to an AEW return or something else entirely, she’s already laying the groundwork.
