Saraya may have built her reputation on being different — but even her alternative style had its limits inside the wrestling ring.

During her Rule Breakers Orlando AMA, the AEW star opened up about how her signature look, complete with piercings, quickly turned into a painful liability once she stepped between the ropes.

When asked if she ever got hurt or uncomfortable wrestling with piercings, Saraya didn’t hesitate to share the brutal reality.

“Oh, yeah. I mean, I got gauges in my ears because my earrings ripped out, and so I made them gauges instead. My belly bar, when I had it in, would always get ripped. Oh my God, my lip piercing… that’s one of the reasons I took… I took them all out, ’cause they kept getting caught… and my… I would get ripped and then it’d be… it’d be bloody. Yeah. So that was one of the biggest reasons why I took everything out.”

Saraya explained that when she first broke into the business, her alternative style — complete with lip piercings, earrings, and a belly bar — was part of her identity. But after repeatedly having them ripped or snagged during matches, she realized it wasn’t worth the pain or risk.

“It’d be bloody,” she bluntly recalled, laughing off the memory.

These days, Saraya still embraces her edgy look — but the piercings stay out when it’s time to fight.
