Saraya has gone through a lot of disturbing experiences in her life and now she has recalled the time when a person of authority grabbed her during a wrestling show.

While speaking on her Rulebreakers podcast, Saraya revealed a disturbing experience she had while talking about how difficult it can be to be a woman in today’s world. She recalled being at a wrestling show. Like most live events, the backstage area was covered in pipe and drape, making it easy to peek through and watch the crowd.

“Then we got talking about being a female, because it’s a universal thing right now where everyone thinks that being a female right now is really hard. There was another person—which I’ll tell you the name afterwards—but uh, we were somewhere, right? Like, it was at a wrestling show. And I went out to peek at the crowd, and you know, like most live events, it’s just like pipe and drape, you know, so you can peep through.”

Saraya said she went down a very dark hallway to get a look, and as she leaned forward to peek through the curtain, someone suddenly put a hand over her mouth and dragged her into the darkness.

Saraya panicked and started freaking out, fearing the worst. After a few terrifying moments, the person let her go and stepped into the light, revealing it was someone she knew. It was someone in a position of authority, claiming it was just a joke. Saraya made it clear she didn’t find it funny at all.

“Like, it was really dark. I went down the little hallway and it’s really dark. Really dark. And I peeped through, and then all of a sudden I feel someone’s hand come over my mouth—no f****** way—and grab me and drag me into the dark. And I’m just like—and I just start freaking out and freaking out. And then he like lets me go, and there’s like this light, and then he was like, ‘It’s just me. I’m just joking, you know.’ And I’m just like—I was like, that’s not funny. But he was a person of, you know, authority.”

Saraya speaking out is a reminder that wrestling still needs to improve when it comes to making sure everyone, especially women, feels safe and respected. Therefore, we hope Saraya never has to go through such experiences ever again and people learn from her story.
