Saraya is officially done with AEW—and fans are already fantasy booking her WWE comeback. But if you’re hoping for Paige’s music to hit anytime soon, pump the brakes. She just set the record straight.
In a new interview with WrestleZone, Saraya addressed the rumors about a WWE return after announcing last month that she was stepping away from wrestling following her AEW exit. While she hasn’t ruled anything out for the future, she made it clear where things stand right now.
“People think I’m going back to WWE or whatever, because there’s this huge rumor mill happening right now,” she said. “But I haven’t spoken to them. At least not right now, I haven’t spoken to them.”
Saraya also explained that her priority this year is getting her business ventures in order, which includes locking down deals under her real name. “That’s something that with this year, I kind of want to get all my business and stuff, deals out the way, like under my name and all that kind of stuff,” she said.
That doesn’t mean the door is closed forever. In fact, Saraya thinks WWE might be more open to outside projects than ever before—something she says is key if she ever does return.
“I’m also focusing on my podcast, acting, all that kind of fun stuff too. I wouldn’t want it to affect my brand,” she added. “And I feel like WWE now is being more open and receptive to people doing outside stuff… they would be understanding at this point and kind of let me do my thing.”
Saraya originally made her name in WWE as Paige, a trailblazer in the women’s division whose career was cut short due to neck injuries. After being pulled from in-ring action, she ultimately left the company before resurfacing in AEW. Now that her AEW chapter has closed, fans have been clamoring for one more run—especially after she hinted on her Rulebreakers podcast that she’d “never say never.”
And if she does come back, it won’t be as Saraya. “Paige. Paige. Paige,” she said when asked how she’d return. “She was a badass… and she has built my life. I got a movie made about Paige.”
According to Dave Meltzer, WWE’s stance on medically clearing her may have softened, now that she’s wrestled injury-free in AEW for the last couple of years. “Their doctrine of saying they would never clear her as it was a few years back would likely change,” he wrote in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
For now, though, Saraya is staying focused on building her brand outside the ring. A return to WWE may happen down the line—but if it does, it’ll be on her terms.
