Saraya is making changes to how she interacts with fans after a disturbing encounter at a signing event where a fan tried to kiss her on the mouth.
The former AEW Women’s Champion initially took to Twitter to share the unsettling experience, writing, “Crazy I have to say this but. If you come to my signings… please don’t try to kiss me anywhere. Especially ON MY MOUTH. He wasn’t able to because I moved. But Jesus f**** Christ.”*
Following the shocking incident, Saraya released a video statement, reassuring fans that she was okay but clearly shaken by what happened. “What’s up, you guys? Bear with me because I am driving home right now from my signing that I just did. And obviously, I tweeted out that a fan tried to kiss me during my signing, actually during my photo-ups, to be exact,” she said.
Saraya noted that she’s been receiving an outpouring of concern from fans and friends. “I’ve been getting a lot of texts, tweets, calls, everything imaginable to make sure I’m good. I promise you I’m good. I’m good. I managed to get away, and he ended up leaving, so it’s good,” she added.
However, the incident has prompted Saraya to change her fan interaction policy moving forward. “I am a hugger. I’ve always been a hugger when it comes to my fans. But going forward, I would love if we just stick to handshakes just to be safer and just to have a little bit of a boundary,” she said.
Saraya also issued a stern reminder to fans, making it clear that attempting to kiss a wrestler without consent is not just inappropriate—it’s assault. “Please don’t do that to us, you guys. Please, to any wrestling, not just females, any wrestling, do not try and kiss us. It’s not appropriate. It’s actually assault,” she said.
Despite the incident, Saraya expressed her gratitude to her supporters, acknowledging that most fans in attendance were respectful. “I just want to say thank you all for coming out, though. I really appreciate you. There was a bunch of you and you were all amazing. And it was just one bad day, and it is what it is,” she concluded.
Saraya’s chilling experience serves as a harsh reminder that boundaries need to be respected, even in the world of pro wrestling. With her new handshake-only policy, she’s taking control of her personal space while still keeping that connection with her fans intact.
