Saraya has stepped away from the ring, but don’t expect her absence to last forever. The AEW star made it clear she isn’t finished with wrestling—far from it.
While speaking during the Unwrapped podcast, Saraya opened up about her desire to wrestle again despite taking another break from the industry. For her, wrestling is more than just a job—it’s an addiction she hasn’t fully shaken off. She explained how difficult it is to truly walk away from wrestling, comparing it to a powerful drug that keeps pulling you back in.
“I do want to wrestle again. You know, when it comes to wrestling, you understand this need a break, right? You can never fully walk away from this f**ing sucker, dude. So when it comes to—like, you try—I mean, look at Ric Flair. He’s retired like 20 times, right? He’s always going to come back.”*
The former WWE Divas Champion admitted that the emotional high from performing in front of a crowd is irreplaceable.
“You are so addicted to the feeling of wrestling, the adrenaline rush you get, the f**ing relationships you build with the fans. You get addicted to that stuff… It’s something really cool that you can go in the ring and make people feel the way you want to.”*
Saraya even likened wrestling to live theater, pointing out how performers guide the emotions of the audience.
“It sounds weird, like ‘Oh, I love controlling your feelings.’ But no, it’s like going to a theater show… being like, ‘Oh my god, I’m watching Pirates of Penzance, I’m crying my eyes out.’ You know what I mean? It really is a drug.”
While she acknowledged she’s been away for a while—even after a previous long hiatus—Saraya emphasized that this current break was necessary.
“So, I spent this year completely out, and I know I had a long time out, but I had to.”
Whether fans see her back in AEW or somewhere else remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure—Saraya’s passion for wrestling is still burning strong.
