WWE hasn’t forgotten about Santos Escobar—in fact, he’s about to get a major push in AAA.

After months off TV, Escobar’s name came up during a recent Self Made Session on YouTube, where Self Made Pro revealed that WWE is circling back to early plans to elevate Escobar in AAA, now that other storylines have played out.

“Also waiting in the wings—and you can expect this very soon in Triple A—is Santos Escobar, who’s set to get a big push,” they reported. “They’ve wanted to push him pretty much since the partnership began.”

Originally, Escobar was on track to win the AAA Mega Championship, but WWE shifted focus when other stars—like Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano—got over with the AAA crowd.

“There were early plans for him to win the Mega Championship, but that was before Dominik got so over in Triple A, before El Grande Americano got so over, and before they assumed Vikingo would be a babyface. Now they’re going to circle back to those plans with Santos.”

This update supports what Bryan Alvarez previously reported on Wrestling Observer Live after Escobar quietly signed a massive new WWE contract in October 2025. According to Alvarez, WWE had been keeping him off TV until they had the right creative direction—one that matches the size of the investment.

“I know he signed a new contract, and I know it was a very big contract,” Alvarez said. “They’re not gonna sign this guy to this kind of money and not push him. WWE believes, ‘We actually need a real idea for this before we bring him back.’”

Escobar’s only request before signing was a personal meeting with Triple H to discuss his future. WWE granted it, and the deal was done.

“I know one of his requests with his new contract was that he wanted a personal meeting with Triple H to discuss his future plans. So they’re gonna come up with something and give him a big push.”

For now, Escobar remains off-screen—aside from a cryptic social media post where he simply wrote: “Waiting patiently.” But thanks to his new deal and renewed creative direction, that wait may be nearly over.

Do you think Santos Escobar should make his return in AAA first—or head straight back to WWE TV? How would you book his long-awaited push? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
