SANADA might be closing the book on his current New Japan Pro-Wrestling run — and he said everything he needed to without saying much at all.
During the third match of NJPW’s New Year Dash 2026, SANADA teamed with his HOUSE OF TORTURE allies Yoshinobu Kanemaru and Yujiro Takahashi. The trio lost to Oleg Boltin, YOSHI-HASHI, and Hirooki Goto in six-man tag team action.
But it wasn’t the result that stole attention — it was SANADA’s entrance. He walked to the ring carrying a guitar with a built-in mini LED screen. One of the words that appeared on the display was simply: “goodbye.”
Backstage after the match, SANADA gave a short statement before leaving the promo area. He didn’t elaborate on his future, but made it clear that he’s stepping away for now.
He said he’s “”I’m leaving this ring for good today. …I’m going on a journey” No additional comments were given.
SANADA hasn’t competed in a singles match since October 2025, and his last singles victory dates back to August during the G1 Climax tournament. With no clear plans revealed, fans are now left to wonder whether this is a temporary break — or the start of something entirely new.
